| Nyiyaparli Cultural Education
“How can we be expected to work together if we don’t know each other?”
We believe education is vital in establishing cultural awareness. The Nyiyaparli Cultural Safety Induction connects industry and community in a way that fosters trust and respect.
Induction Overview
The Nyiyaparli Cultural Safety Induction is an interactive learning experience designed for people working on Nyiyaparli Country.
The induction provides essential cultural awareness training, including cultural safety protocols, for people engaging with Nyiyaparli people, land and waters.
The Nyiyaparli Cultural Safety Induction is the fundamental training that supports the preservation of cultural heritage and management of Native Title responsibilities. The Karlka Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation (RNTBC) endorses the delivery of the training by Coongan Pty Ltd.
Part One:
E-learning Module
The first part of the induction is a 30–45-minute immersive e-learning session.
This module includes a Welcome to Country by the appropriate Nyiyaparli person and covers the “ABC’s” (awareness, behaviour and caring for caring) of the fundamental knowledge required to work on Nyiyaparli country and/or with Nyiyaparli people.
There are a range of documentaries and training videos where you hear directly from Nyiyaparli people about their vision for country and community.
This can be completed at the Learner’s pace and must be done before attending the Part Two: Yarning Session.
Part Two:
Yarning Session
(Live webinar)
The second part of the induction is a Yarning Session which is a one-hour live webinar with a Nyiyaparli facilitator.
This session is designed to personally connect, share stories, ask questions, and have a conversation about how cultural awareness is foundational to building healthy working relationships.
The Yarning Sessions are offered as public classes for companies with less than 15 people per class, or privately scheduled Yarning Sessions are available for companies with more that 15 people per class.
