Andrew Cooper

Senior Heritage Consultant

Andrew has worked on a wide range of heritage projects throughout Australia for over 20 years. He has broad expertise in all facets of cultural heritage management including site identification and recording, stone artefact analysis, site card and report preparation, data management, geographical information systems and archaeological survey and excavation techniques.

He has worked and is still currently working with different Aboriginal groups from all over Australia allowing him to gain a good understanding of concerns and issues relevant to different Aboriginal groups, as well as building rapport, trust and respect with people from different cultural backgrounds.

From 2013 to 2016 he was engaged in PhD research which involved combining information from archaeology, ethnography, geography and ecology to construct a picture of Aboriginal lifeways in the Pilbara in the late Holocene. This data was then used to simulate and assess ideas on mobility, seasonality and landscape use.

Andrew brings a wealth of experience to the team and provides leadership, legislative proficiency in the Aboriginal Heritage Act (WA) and high-level research capabilities.

Outside of archaeology, Andrew is passionate about bike riding, hiking, skiing and other outdoor activities. He regularly takes part in endurance and multi-day bike rides, reflecting his love for outdoor adventures.
